Explore the skill with this sample brief, then note what you would like to practise with the trainer.
Practice brief: Choose a photograph you own and invent an event name and date. Your brief is to create a readable promotional image while retaining an editable version of the work.
- Identify the subject, the background and the text as separate parts of the composition. Decide where the headline will be easiest to read.
- If Photoshop is available, work on a copy and use separate layers. Try a mask for a reversible adjustment instead of permanently erasing part of the original.
- Compare the design at full size and at a small preview size. Check text readability, subject edges and colour before exporting a sharing copy.
Check your result: Keep the editable source as well as the exported image. Note which steps were difficult: selections, masks, retouching, colour or layout. Those needs can help you assess the beginner course outline.
